i am what i am

I am a pessimist. I am generally happy, because I don’t expect much to begin with.

I predict the worse and think of the unthinkable. On the downside, I drive others crazy and constantly analyze what will or can go wrong with any situation. I am always prepared for the worst. In my world things are more likely to go wrong than right, and they do.

We are what we are.

  1. I suppose I may erroneously perceive pessimists as unhappy people. Like you say, you’re a pessimist, but you’re generally happy. In my world those are mutually exclusive. But indeed when you reign in your expectations, you are less likely to be disappointed.

Although I might personally wonder that if a person expects to fail… what drives them forward? Conquering whatever lies in front of me, no matter how insurmountable it seems, is a huge motivation for me.

All I know is that I’m determined not to live my life unhappy. Thinking about how this or that can fail just eats me up inside. I’d rather try to focus on the possible success, and use that to inspire me. But again, keeping the emotions/expectations in check is a big part of it.

But optimist or pessimist, doesn’t matter. It’s all about attitude. Do what makes you happy, and don’t let anybody hold you back. I truly believe we all make our own luck, we control our own fate.
