ok i know i promised some minecraft posts last weekend well i have tons of screens shots to go through and do some write up but this week has been hectic with work and thunderstorms i had 3 tornadoes come close to my town and across the whole state they are saying we had a total of 15… so between having to hide in my basement and having to work its putting a pinch on my free time! i promise to try and post a large post up ive already started it and its in my drafts i just need to go through all my screen shots and upload the ones i want to use.
expect a couple of minecraft updates this weekend also maybe a podcast, just been busy with work and such i haven’t had time for anything
i havnt posted in a while mainly because ive been working way too much. though last night i did do some exploring. first i had to do some fishing, after i finished cooking my fish i went down in to my mine and started doing some mining for diamond and other precious items. after a couple hours of finding nothing i went back up topside and went creeper hunting so i can make some TNT makes mining a lot faster. Also my green house is doing a pretty effective job at keeping the crops growing so much so that i almost just need to only stock bread but they only heal 2.5 hearts
One topic that frequently stumps people is deciphering megabits and megabytes.
“Bit: short form for binary digit. It is either a 0 or a 1 (binary code).
1 byte= 8 bits.
1 kilobyte = 1000 bytes.
1 megabyte = 1000 kilobytes.
1 megabyte=1024*1024=1,048,576 bytes and 1 byte=8 bits, and 1 megabyte (1048576) is just 8,388,608 bits, then 1 megabit is approximately .125 megabytes.
According to the binary system, used in relation to computer storage and memory, it takes not 1000 bytes to equal a KB, but 1024 bytes. This is because 24 extra bytes are used to store indexing or mapping information about the 1000 bytes of data.
Generally – Bits are used to talk about data transfer rates (1 kilobit = 1000 bits), while bytes are used to talk about storage size calculations (1 kilobyte = 1024 bytes). So when your Internet provider offers you a 1Mb connection, its megaBits not MegaBytes. So for a rough guide of how fast you can download is going to be, divide by eight. i.e. 1 Megabit speed = 128KB of data. ”
Data transfer rates are quite handy for gauging performance levels of various hardware devices. We must also translate speed to value when considering Internet service plans, advertised by download and upload speeds expressed in kilobits per second (kbps) For example, a typical Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) plan might have an upper transfer limit of 1,500 Kbps, which can also be expressed as 1.5 Mbps. A cable plan might be advertised with speeds up to 5,000 Kbps or 5 Mbps; and fiber optic Internet can reach speeds of 50 mbps or more.
im not sure why its down but ill keep ever one posted as soon as i find out why its down….
EDIT: server power is down awaiting news for the power to be restored
EDIT: server is back up
no minecraft stories today however i do have one from borderlands session last night . got together with a few of my buddies and played some borderlands. one particular mission we were doing was called loop the loop. you have to drive a vehicle in a loop the loop out in the middle of nowhere, and why this is a mission you got me. as were were attempting to do this feat we kinda got high centered on the cliff that was to the left of the loop the loop there was apparently a glitch…
No screenshots today, but I do have a story to tell…
I hurt my back yesterday, I have a 1st degree muscle tear in my lower back, and boy does it sure hurt. so much so it’s difficult to sit down for long periods and laying down is also difficult. I was able to get situated in my comfy recliner and was able to use my laptop to play some minecraft before the wonderful pain pills kicked in.
I had run out of arrows for my bow. I have made it a point to not use my admin powers or cheat as we call it. I’ve made it a rule that you only use them when needed. So in order to get more arrows I have to craft them you have to have flint, sticks, and feathers to craft arrows. I spent a good deal on the server hunting chickens and zombies for feathers and trying to mine out gravel to get flint. There are plenty of trees on the server so sticks are not hard to come by feather on the other hand are. During the day you farm the chickens, during the night you have to hunt down the zombies for feathers the only problem with this is you have to watch out for skeletons and creepers and spiders. Skeletons also drop arrows so I go after them too, but the creepers are not so forgiving they will flank you while you are busy with other mobs.
So far I have been able to make about 128 more arrows but I have learned I’m going to have to use them sparingly because it’s a lot harder to not “cheat” by just using the command to give myself items.
Also if anyone would like to play on my server let me know I’d be happy to give you the server address.
