Shrimp Provencal

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 1/2 pounds large shrimp (21-25 per pound), peeled and de-veined
  • 2 cups red peppers, diced
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 3 large cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh thyme
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can canned diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Quickly saute shrimp until they turn pink, but are not cooked through; remove from skillet and set aside. Add the bell peppers, onion, garlic, and thyme; cook until the onion softens, about 8 minutes.
  2. Stir in white wine, tomato paste, and diced tomatoes. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until the flavors blend, about 10 minutes. Add the shrimp, and simmer until they are cooked and turn opaque, about 3 minutes. Stir in the basil, and season to taste with salt and pepper before serving.

Now I didnt make the entire recipe as stated above i cut it in half since its only me im cooking for. but i needed a use for the shrimp i had in my freezer. i got the idea when i stumble across this blog: and i amazed myself it actually turned out really well i had to do some research as to what it was, but i had most of the INGREDIENTS to make only had to go pick up some of the fresh produce that i didnt have.

an evening in the underground…

i spent some of this evening in the old IRC stomping grounds where some of my old internet friends reside, among what i like to call “The end of a great era”. i know you have no idea what that means its ok …and im not going to go into detail. i remember IRC being one of the best internet hang outs. now its just poisoned with idiotic kids.. like this direct quote from tonight’s convo in the main room.

“You don’t realize what you have until you reach High School.”

and this is the screen name of such fool “1337tards” hes argues its pronounced leet-ers… i pronounce it leet-tards because that’s what he is a “tard”

the discussion tonight and i should have logged out but curiosity got the better of me and it almost killed me. some one complaining about it being their b-day and no one said happy b-day to them all day. even now i question my own sanity as to why i partake in these convos normally i stick to the IMs between myself and my buddies and dont even pay attention to the main chat, for obvious reasons. well back to the kid whining about no one telling him happy b-day. and the douche bags were on in full tonight. this same person who made the above quote went on a rant on how life must be tough when the most of your problems come from some one not telling you happy b-day. and then hes start on this spiel about how tough it is to be in high school. this is when i came into the convo.

i said

“really high school is the pinnacle of you life huh? .. i know it must be difficult not having to pay rent or bills mom and dad do that. but because you  are in high school you know what life is really like.”

i was not expecting to get a response but i did.

he said *warning dont read the next sentence if you value your brain cells*

“damn right highschool is the hardest point in your life its where you become you and you will be defined for hte rest of your life who you are.”

How do you even respond to that much stupidity? there is not arguing with ppl like this. it makes your head hurt, so tonight i have bid farewell to that IRC room.

cant install the zune software

“Install Driver Fail/Remove Driver Fail/RollBack Error/Error 0x80070643:

Method 1:
downloading a MS program called “Windows Install Cleanup.”

Link here:

Method 2:
I don’t recommend this to anyone just yet who is not comfortable using regedit. Make a restore point before doing this. What you need to do is go here in the registry:

Then create a new DWORD value and name it:

Then modify it to 1

close regedit and reboot………install the zune software

Setup will still fail but it will NOT rollback. Check and see if you have zune files or not on your system. It should be in c:\Program Files\Zune

Then you can click on zune.exe in that folder. Now mine did come back up and say there was an update to 2.1 again and went back thru the install and error out, but it’s installed and working.

After you have the software on and working, I was advised we should delete that registry key.

Method 3:
Turn on Windows Firewall. That’s it.  Try to install again.

Method 3 worked for me how retarded!

my Ubuntu desktop

ive only booted into windows once this weekend. ive now figured out a use for my laptop … photoshop! haha ive been doing all my design stuff on my laptop. but any way here is my ubuntu desktop. nothing fancy but i have some transparency going on with the top panel there and i changed my icon themes and running some screetlets (weather and clock) and of course nothing like my windows mods ive done in the past but im limited to what i can do with out the fully functioning compiz-fusion since i cant enable the 3D drivers for my ATi card

i use photoshop…

actually i use the Creative Suite 3: design Premium at work and at home. Yes its a bit pricey, but its a great suite of software if you are a designer Photoshop and illustrator in particular. There are free programs out there that are similar to these programs but they lack the features that i use when i’m designing or working

“GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It has many capabilities. It can be used as a simple paint program, an expert quality photo retouching program, an online batch processing system, a mass production image renderer, an image format converter, etc.”

“Artweaver is a simple Freeware program for creative painting, i.e. Artweaver offers you all artistic effects which you need for your work. You can create sketches from photos and experiment with a wide range of brushes. The brush simulation is thereby so realistic as possible.”

“Paint.NET is free image and photo editing software for computers that run Windows. It features an intuitive and innovative user interface with support for layers, unlimited undo, special effects, and a wide variety of useful and powerful tools.”

the switch to linux

so IVe been wanting to make the switch over to linux … but ive ran into a snag and its call ATi video cards are not 100% supported even with the open source driver provided from ATi themselves … the problem im running into and maybe someone can help me but when i install or enable the ATi drivers i cant boot into ubuntu it just goes to a blank screen and i have to reboot into recovery mode and tell it to use the native driver thats installed with ubuntu by default ..

I’m sporting an Ati x1650 pro card.

that’s the one major problem the other problem im having and maybe its just a matter for just breaking down and getting a vmware type program for linux to run this, but being able to use CS3 for work and my artwork i do.  Gimp just cant do what i need it to do.

New Final Fantasy game

Dissidia: Final Fantasy

Part of Square Enix’s 20th Anniversary series, Final Fantasy: Dissidia is described as a “Dramatic Progressive Action” game. As one of various Final Fantasy characters, players square off against different opponents, gaining levels and strength as they go. They can also challange their friends, and customize their character through the use of different equipment.

But out of all the characters there is no Cloud …. how could you leave him out? unless he is a hidden character.
